1869 The Beginnings of a Museum and Natural History Library
In 1869 a room was secured in Kirkside as a store-room and library. It was the start of a museum and, perhaps, the most complete Victorian natural history library outside of a university or a national library. Today there are around 5,500 books in the collection, mostly 19th century. The Library remains in the possession of the Society and is housed in Perth Museum and Art Gallery.
