The PSNS published this 112-page, full-colour volume of its Journal in November 2014. It contains six articles relevant to Perth, Perthshire and the Society.

‘The colouring of Archibald Sandeman’ by Professor Robin Marshall is an account of the digital recreation in colour of a black and white photograph of a destroyed portrait of Archibald Sandeman, whose bequest to Perth Town Council led to the opening of the Sandeman Library in Perth.

‘Archibald Sandeman (1822-1893), mathematician, bleacher and philanthropist’ by Dr C.D. Waterston records the life of this important local benefactor.

‘Dr Alexander Stewart (1753-1835) 10th of Bonskeid, a remarkable life revisited’ by Dr C.D. Waterston is an account of this well-connected medical practitioner in the army and in general practice in Perth and Perthshire.

‘The King’s Lodging in Perth’ by David Perry is an account of the royal lodgings in Perth of James IV in Watergate and of James V in Speygate, both of which became incorporated into the famous Gowrie House.

‘Late 18th and early 19th Century lead-lined coffins, funeral costs and the Beautiful Mrs Graham’s Ring’ by Thomas Huxley describes the lead-lined coffins in the Lynedoch Mausoleum in Methven and in Dunkeld Cathedral Chapter House, funeral expenses of the 1st and 4th Dukes of Atholl, and the wedding ring of Mrs Mary Graham of Balgowan (1757-1792).

‘The Lawyer milks the cow: a cartoon mystery’ by Thomas Huxley is an account of some political cartoons from the 18th to the 20th centuries illustrating the milking of a cow by, variously, landowners, farmers, lawyers, bankers, businessmen and governments.
